It would have been an easy option for them to move manufacturing abroad and produce the lights in the Far East but this takes away from the tradition and the pride and love that is put in to each model.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eWhen the factory that produced the ceramic shades for their original btc wall lights, table lamps and ceiling lights was under threat of closure, Peter decided to buy the factory and keep on all the staff. The factory is based in Stoke on Trent the heart of the UK’s ceramic producing industry.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eThe process for each shade is highly skilled and labour intensive,. Clay is mixed with water and then put in to moulds. Once the moulds are set they are split and left to set for 24 hours to dry out. They are then smoothed with sponges to remove any lines and imperfections. The items are then biscuit fired and brushed again, this sounds tasty! The final stage is they are dipped in glaze then gloss fired for beautiful fine bone china white finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eThe metal factory is based in Birmingham and each piece again is hand crafted there is so much detail, skill and craftsmanship in each model.
