Jan Anderson and Poul Madsen formed Normann Copenhagen in 1999. Their philosophy is to look at the world in a unique way [OPEN] as if to put on a pair of spectacles and everything in the world looks different.
They achieve this by there designs focusing on using traditional materials in an untraditional. For example one of there most popular products is a washing up bowl made from rubber, a vase that looks like grass or a drinking glass that rocks.
The company has grown rapidly since its first product that was launched the Normann Norm 69 pendant which now considered to be a design classic and is reminiscent of the famous Artichoke pendant. The company now have over 50 products in there range of home accessories including furniture, lighting, vases, herb pots, clocks, bowls and tableware.
The Normann flagship store is based in an old cinema complex in Osterbro, Copenhagen it features all of there products as well as some from up and coming Scandinavian designers. It is well worth a visit for all design aficionados.
