A Spanish native, Urquiola graduated from Madrid Poly in 1980 with a distinction in architecture. She then steadily worked her way up to head of Product Development at Maddalena De Padova before gaining valuable experience with architects Renzio and Ramerino. Finally, in 1998, she opened her own Milan-based practise. [OPEN]

It was, by her own admission, a slow start – but the momentum steadily built up and by 2003 Urquiola was Elle Deco’s International Designer of the Year. The awards have cascaded upon her ever since.

Patricia Urquiola’s style is poetic and elegant - with a hint of romantic Boho. Her reinvigoration of the classic Windsor chair for Kartell is a case in point. The Comback chair is sleek and inviting as well as spacious and comfortable. Well worth waiting for.[CLOSE]
