Born in the Saga Prefecture of Japan in 1967, Yoshioka graduated at the age of 21 from the Kuwasaura Design School. He pursued a successful free-lance career working with Issey Miyake creating integrated product packaging and shop design. [OPEN]

In 2000 Yoshioka established his own design studio in Tokyo. His reputation was enhanced by collaborations with European design houses like Swarovski, Driade and Kartell. Yoshioka is an artist as well as a designer, and some of his creations – notably the Tokyo Pop range – achieve the status of both.

He has permanent exhibits in the V & A, Manhattan’s magnificent MoMA and the Pompidou in Paris. He won the Good Design Golden Award in 2007 and Elle Deco’s Designer of the year in 2009.

Yoshioka’s lighting installations have delighted Japanese gallery goers for some years. His nine metre tall Rainbow Church wowed the international art world in 2010.[CLOSE]
